  2. 2. Slice the vanilla pod lengthwise.
  3. 3. Add 2 liters of water, the sugar, the vinegar, and the vanilla pod to a pot.
  4. 4. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. 5. Let the liquid simmer until the volume has reduced by half.
  6. 6. Place the figs into a sterilized preserving jar.
  7. 7. Pour the hot liquid over the figs.
  8. 8. Seal the jar tightly.
  9. 9. Store the jar in a cool place.
