🍽️ Sweet and Sour Cherries in a Jar

Ingredients
- 500 g sweet cherries
- 200 ml cherry juice
- 125 g sugar
- 2 tbsp vanilla sugar
- 4 whole cloves
- 4 allspice berries
- 1 piece untreated orange peel
- 5 tbsp kirsch
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the cherries under running water.
- 2. Carefully remove the pits, keeping the fruit as whole as possible.
- 3. Place 200 milliliters of water, the juice, the sugar, the vanilla sugar, the cloves, the allspice berries, and the orange peel into a large pot.
- 4. Bring the mixture to a boil on the stove.
- 5. Then let the syrup simmer gently over low heat for about 5 minutes.
- 6. Fill the prepared cherries into the jars that you have previously rinsed with hot water.
- 7. Pour the syrup through a fine mesh strainer to remove the spices and peel.
- 8. Add the cherry liqueur to the strained syrup and stir it in.
- 9. Pour the liquid over the cherries in the jars.
- 10. Seal the jars tightly.
- 11. Let the jars cool down completely at room temperature.
