  1. 1. Beat the butter with the sugar until the mixture is creamy and fluffy.
  2. 2. Stir in the eggs one by one and gradually into the butter-sugar mixture.
  3. 3. Finely chop 250 grams of chocolate.
  4. 4. Mix the chopped chocolate with the flour and ground almonds.
  5. 5. Stir the chocolate-flour mixture into the egg cream until everything is well combined.
  6. 6. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  7. 7. Place the dough onto the prepared tray.
  8. 8. Smooth the dough evenly with a spoon or spatula.
  9. 9. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (160 degrees Celsius for fan-assisted or gas mark 2-3).
  10. 10. Bake the cake for about 40 minutes in the preheated oven.
  11. 11. Remove the tray from the oven.
  12. 12. Cut the still hot cake into strips measuring 1.5 by 5 centimeters.
  13. 13. Allow the strips to cool down.
  14. 14. Carefully separate the cooled strips from the tray.
  15. 15. Place the strips on a wire cooling rack.
  16. 16. Melt the remaining chocolate slowly in a double boiler.
  17. 17. Brush the chocolate strips with the melted chocolate.
