  1. 1. Slice off the top and bottom of the orange flat. Then remove the peel along with the white bitter pith completely all around.
  2. 2. Hold the orange over a bowl. Carefully cut with the knife between the membranes and the flesh to release a segment.
  3. 3. Turn the knife and cut the segment off the other side of the membrane so it falls out completely.
  4. 4. Place the segments in the bowl. Squeeze the remaining peel to collect the juice if you need it.
