🍽️ Filling Stuffed Tomatoes

Ingredients
- 1 bread roll
- 12 medium tomatoes
- 1 onion
- 500 g sausage meat
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tbsp freshly chopped herbs (thyme and basil)
- salt
- pepper
- 250 g basmati rice
- 600 ml vegetable broth
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 2. Place the bread roll in a bowl and pour lukewarm water over it.
- 3. Wash the tomatoes under running water.
- 4. Cut off the top ends of the tomatoes.
- 5. Carefully scoop out the inside of the tomatoes with a spoon.
- 6. Squeeze the soaked bread roll well with your hands to remove the water.
- 7. Peel the onion and cut it into very small cubes.
- 8. Put the minced meat, the squeezed-out bread roll, and the egg yolk into a large bowl.
- 9. Mix the ingredients in the bowl thoroughly with your hands.
- 10. Fold the chopped herbs into the meat mixture.
- 11. Season the filling with salt and pepper to taste.
- 12. Fill the hollowed-out tomatoes with the meat mixture.
- 13. Put the rice into a baking dish.
- 14. Pour the broth over the rice in the dish.
- 15. Place the stuffed tomatoes directly on the rice.
- 16. Place the cut-off tomato tops as lids next to the stuffed tomatoes.
- 17. Season the tomatoes and the rice in the dish once more with salt and pepper.
- 18. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven.
- 19. Bake the tomatoes for about 30 minutes.
- 20. Take the baking dish out of the oven.
- 21. Serve the tomatoes directly from the baking dish at the table.
