  1. 1. Wash the cranberries thoroughly.
  2. 2. Let the berries drain well.
  3. 3. Remove any damaged or unusable berries.
  4. 4. Melt the butter in a pot.
  5. 5. Add the cranberries to the melted butter.
  6. 6. Sauté the berries for about 3 minutes.
  7. 7. Stir occasionally while doing so.
  8. 8. Now add the remaining ingredients.
  9. 9. Simmer the mixture over low heat.
  10. 10. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  11. 11. Wait until the berries are soft.
  12. 12. Puree the cooked mixture.
  13. 13. Add a little water if necessary.
  14. 14. Press the sauce through a fine sieve.
  15. 15. Heat the finished sauce once more briefly.
  16. 16. Season the sauce to taste at the end.
  17. 17. Fill the hot sauce immediately into clean jars.
  18. 18. Seal the jars tightly.
  19. 19. Place the sealed jars upside down on their lids for 10 minutes.
  20. 20. Then turn the jars right side up.
  21. 21. Let the jars cool down completely.
