Ingredients
- 250 g dried fig
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 piece ginger (approx. 2 cm)
- 1 tsp allspice berries
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 2 cloves
- 2 dried chili peppers
- salt
- 125 ml white wine vinegar
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius.
- 2. Set the oven function to top and bottom heat.
- 3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 4. Place the figs on the prepared baking sheet.
- 5. Bake the figs for about 10 minutes in the hot oven.
- 6. Peel the onion.
- 7. Peel the garlic.
- 8. Peel the ginger.
- 9. Dice the onion into small cubes.
- 10. Dice the garlic into small cubes.
- 11. Dice the ginger into small cubes.
- 12. Put allspice berries into a mortar.
- 13. Put mustard seeds into the mortar.
- 14. Put cloves into the mortar.
- 15. Put the chili peppers into the mortar.
- 16. Add a pinch of salt to the mortar.
- 17. Crush the spices and salt finely together.
- 18. Cut the baked figs into small pieces.
- 19. Put the fig pieces into a pot.
- 20. Add the diced onion to the pot.
- 21. Add the diced garlic to the pot.
- 22. Add the diced ginger to the pot.
- 23. Add the crushed spices to the pot.
- 24. Pour the vinegar into the pot.
- 25. Pour about 250 milliliters of water into the pot.
- 26. Slowly bring the mixture to a boil.
- 27. Let the mixture simmer gently uncovered over low heat.
- 28. Simmer the chutney for about 30 minutes.
- 29. Wait until the figs are soft.
- 30. Fill the chutney into jars.
- 31. Seal the jars tightly.
- 32. Store the jars in a cool, dark place.
