🍽️ Crispy Churros with Chocolate Dip

Ingredients
- 100 g dark chocolate
- 100 ml whipping cream
- 1 tsp grated orange peel
- 60 ml milk
- 30 g butter
- salt
- 60 g flour
- 2 eggs
- fat (for frying)
- 4 tbsp fine sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon powder
Instructions
- 1. Break the chocolate into small pieces and place them in a metal bowl.
- 2. Place the bowl over a pot of hot water, ensuring the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water.
- 3. Stir the chocolate slowly until it is completely melted.
- 4. Bring the cream to a boil in a small saucepan.
- 5. Pour the boiling cream immediately over the melted chocolate.
- 6. Whisk the mixture well until you have a smooth sauce.
- 7. Let the sauce cool down slightly.
- 8. Stir in the finely grated orange zest.
- 9. Put the milk, 60 milliliters of water, the butter, and a pinch of salt into a saucepan.
- 10. Bring the mixture to a boil on the stove.
- 11. Remove the pan from the heat.
- 12. Add the flour all at once.
- 13. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until no flour lumps remain.
- 14. Place the pan back on the stove.
- 15. Heat the dough while stirring constantly for about three minutes.
- 16. The dough is ready when it forms a solid ball that pulls away from the bottom of the pan.
- 17. Transfer the dough to a bowl.
- 18. Let the dough cool down briefly.
- 19. Beat the eggs into the dough one by one using an electric hand mixer.
- 20. Continue until you have a smooth mixture.
- 21. Pipe the dough into pieces about five centimeters long directly into the hot oil.
- 22. Cut the ends with scissors dipped in oil.
- 23. Fry the churros for three to four minutes.
- 24. Turn them once halfway through the cooking time.
- 25. The churros are done when they are golden brown.
- 26. Lift the finished churros out of the oil with a slotted spoon.
- 27. Let them drain on kitchen paper.
- 28. Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
- 29. Toss the hot churros immediately in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- 30. Serve them right away with the chocolate sauce for dipping.
