  2. 2. Slice the chili pepper lengthwise.
  3. 3. Shake out the seeds from the pod.
  4. 4. Crumble the empty pod into small pieces.
  5. 5. Add sugar, cocoa powder, and 250 milliliters of water to a pot.
  6. 6. Whisk the ingredients well.
  7. 7. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  8. 8. Remove the pot from the heat.
  9. 9. Stir in the chopped chocolate.
  10. 10. Stir in the chili pieces.
  11. 11. Add the amaretto or almond syrup.
  12. 12. Stir everything well.
  13. 13. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker.
  14. 14. Freeze the mixture for about 20 minutes.
  15. 15. Rinse the kumquats under hot water.
  16. 16. Slice the kumquats thinly.
  17. 17. Remove the seeds from the slices.
  18. 18. Halve the orange.
  19. 19. Squeeze the orange.
  20. 20. Measure out 100 milliliters of orange juice.
  21. 21. Slice the vanilla pod lengthwise.
  22. 22. Scrape out the seeds from the pod.
  23. 23. Briefly bring the vanilla seeds and honey to a boil.
  24. 24. Add the kumquats.
  25. 25. Stir in the orange juice.
  26. 26. Bring the mixture back to a boil.
  27. 27. Simmer the mixture in the open pot over low heat for 10 minutes.
  28. 28. Transfer the compote mixture to a bowl.
  29. 29. Let the compote mixture cool.
  30. 30. Scoop the chocolate sorbet with an ice cream scoop.
  31. 31. Serve the ice balls together with the cooled compote.
