  1. 1. Season the chicken inside and out with salt and chili.
  2. 2. Peel the onions and cut them into wedges.
  3. 3. Wash the potatoes and halve them.
  4. 4. Place the potatoes and onions in a bowl.
  5. 5. Season the vegetable mixture with salt, pepper, and olive oil, and mix everything well.
  6. 6. Place the chicken in the center of a roasting pan.
  7. 7. Arrange the potato-onion mixture around the chicken in the pan.
  8. 8. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  9. 9. Place the pan on the second rack from the bottom in the oven.
  10. 10. Bake the chicken for 45 to 50 minutes.
  11. 11. Add the tomatoes to the pan when there are 15 minutes of baking time left.
  12. 12. Season the tomatoes with salt and pepper.
  13. 13. Roughly chop the thyme.
  14. 14. Sprinkle the thyme over the finished dish.
  15. 15. Serve the chicken hot.
