🍽️ Chili con Carne with Chocolate

Ingredients
- 350 g cornmeal
- 325 g wheat flour Type 1050
- 75 g buckwheat flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- salt
- 0.5 l milk (1.5% fat)
- 2 eggs
- 50 g butter
- 3 tbsp raw cane sugar
- 2 onions
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 red chili peppers
- 2 stalks celery
- 1 carrot
- 2 red bell peppers
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 500 g ground beef
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 500 ml meat broth
- 2 tsp sweet paprika powder
- 250 g kidney beans (can)
- 1 spring onion
- pepper
- 150 g sour cream
- 100 g dark chocolate
Instructions
- 1. Add semolina, both types of flour, baking powder, and one tablespoon of salt to a bowl. Mix the dry ingredients well.
- 2. Add milk, eggs, butter, and sugar. Stir with a hand mixer until you have a smooth dough.
- 3. Line a loaf pan with baking paper. Fill it with the dough and smooth the top.
- 4. Preheat the oven to 200 °C (convection 180 °C; gas mark 3). Bake the bread for about 45 minutes until golden brown.
- 5. Remove the bread from the oven. Let it cool for a short while, take it out of the pan, and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
- 6. Peel the onions and garlic. Dice the onions roughly and finely chop the garlic.
- 7. Wash the chili peppers and chop them. Clean the celery, wash it, and dice it.
- 8. Peel the carrots and dice them finely. Clean the bell peppers, wash them, halve them, and cut them into short strips.
- 9. Heat the oil in a pot. Sauté the chili and onions in the hot oil.
- 10. Add the minced meat and fry until crumbly.
- 11. Stir in the celery, bell peppers, and carrots.
- 12. Add the tomato paste and garlic. Fry everything briefly.
- 13. Deglaze with broth. Add the paprika powder.
- 14. Simmer the chili for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a little more liquid if necessary.
- 15. Drain the beans in a sieve. Add them to the chili.
- 16. Let everything simmer for another 10 minutes.
- 17. Wash and trim the spring onions. Chop them and add them to the pot.
- 18. Season the dish with salt and pepper.
- 19. Fill the chili con carne into serving bowls. Add a dollop of sour cream to each.
- 20. Chop the dark chocolate. Sprinkle it over the chili.
- 21. Serve the chili con carne with the chocolate and the cornbread.
