  1. 1. Wash the herbs under running water. Set aside a few basil leaves and chop the rest finely. Mix the chopped herbs with the cheese, butter, and a pinch of pepper.
  2. 2. Clean the mushrooms and slice them into thin strips. Sauté them in the butter until the released liquid has evaporated. Season the mushrooms with salt and pepper.
  3. 3. Top the bread slices with the mushrooms. Spread the cheese-herb mixture over them and cut each toast diagonally once. Place the toasts in a shallow baking dish and bake in the preheated oven at 175 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes.
  4. 4. Garnish the finished toasts with the reserved basil leaves before serving.
