🍽️ Classic Cannelloni with Meat Filling and Cheese Crust

Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic
- 400 g crushed tomatoes
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 1 pinch sugar
- 4 tbsp red wine
- 1 onion
- 400 g minced meat
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp medium-hot mustard
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 8 cannelloni
- 2 balls mozzarella (125 g each)
- 75 g finely grated parmesan
Instructions
- 1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius with fan setting.
- 2. Peel the garlic cloves and chop them very finely.
- 3. Stir the chopped garlic into the tomato sauce.
- 4. Season the tomato sauce with salt, pepper, sugar, and wine.
- 5. Set the seasoned tomato sauce aside.
- 6. Peel the onion and chop it finely as well.
- 7. Mix the minced meat in a bowl with the onions.
- 8. Add the egg, mustard, half of the remaining tomato sauce, and thyme to the meat mixture.
- 9. Season the meat filling generously with salt and pepper.
- 10. Fill the cannelloni tubes with the meat mixture.
- 11. Spread the rest of the tomato sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- 12. Place the filled cannelloni side by side on the sauce.
- 13. Cut the mozzarella into small cubes.
- 14. Distribute the mozzarella cubes evenly over the cannelloni.
- 15. Sprinkle the dish with grated parmesan.
- 16. Finish baking the cannelloni in the preheated oven.
