🍽️ Burgers with Melted Cheese, Tomatoes, and Onions

Ingredients
- 400 g minced meat
- 1 tsp medium-hot mustard
- 1 tbsp freshly chopped parsley
- 1 egg
- salt
- pepper
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- lettuce leaves (e.g. head lettuce)
- 2 onions
- 2 tomatoes
- 4 slices cheese (e.g. Gouda)
- 4 rolls
Instructions
- 1. Put the minced meat, mustard, chopped parsley, and egg into a bowl.
- 2. Season the mixture generously with salt and pepper.
- 3. Mix everything thoroughly with your hands.
- 4. Shape four equal-sized burger patties (flattened meat balls).
- 5. Heat two tablespoons of oil in a large frying pan.
- 6. Place the patties in the hot pan.
- 7. Fry the burgers for about six to eight minutes on the first side until golden brown.
- 8. Turn the patties once.
- 9. Fry the second side for another six to eight minutes until golden brown.
- 10. Wash the lettuce under running water.
- 11. Remove the tough stems (the hard bottom parts of the leaves).
- 12. Shake the lettuce dry.
- 13. Tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces.
- 14. Peel the onions.
- 15. Slice the onions into thin rings.
- 16. Wash the tomato.
- 17. Remove the hard stem area at the top of the tomato.
- 18. Cut the tomato into eight thick slices.
- 19. Heat the remaining oil in a grill pan.
- 20. Fry the onion rings for about five minutes until golden brown.
- 21. Add the tomato slices during the last one to two minutes.
- 22. Place one slice of cheese on each burger patty.
- 23. Let the cheese melt briefly.
- 24. Slice the buns horizontally in the middle.
- 25. Toast the cut sides of the buns in the pan until golden brown.
- 26. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun.
- 27. Place the burger patty with the melted cheese on top.
- 28. Add the fried onions on top.
- 29. Place the fried tomato slices on top.
- 30. Season everything once more with salt and pepper.
- 31. Cover the burgers with the top half of the buns.
