🍽️ Juicy Burgers with Beef and Tofu

Ingredients
- 1 Baguette
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 onion
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- 600 g ground beef
- 0.5 tsp dried oregano
- 0.25 tsp ground cumin
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 200 g smoked tofu
- 6 tbsp olive oil
- 50 g ketchup
- 1 tomato
- 1 tsp dried herbs (to taste)
- Tabasco (to taste)
- lettuce leaves (to taste, e.g. iceberg lettuce or romaine lettuce…)
Instructions
- 1. Cut a small piece of baguette (about 100 grams) into small cubes.
- 2. Place the bread cubes in water to soften them.
- 3. Peel one clove of garlic and one onion.
- 4. Finely chop the garlic and onion.
- 5. Sauté the chopped onions and garlic in hot butter.
- 6. Cook the mixture briefly until it is soft and translucent.
- 7. Remove the pan from the heat.
- 8. Let the onion and garlic mixture cool down slightly.
- 9. Pat the tofu dry with a kitchen towel.
- 10. Cut the tofu into small cubes.
- 11. Squeeze the soaked bread well to remove excess water.
- 12. Place the squeezed bread into a bowl.
- 13. Add the minced meat to the bowl.
- 14. Add the cooled onion and garlic mixture.
- 15. Add the tofu cubes.
- 16. Add fresh parsley, oregano, and cumin.
- 17. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
- 18. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
- 19. Slightly wet your hands with water.
- 20. Form small meatballs from the mixture.
- 21. Heat the remaining olive oil in a pan.
- 22. Fry the meatballs on both sides until golden brown.
- 23. Cook the meatballs for about 8 minutes.
- 24. Season the ketchup with the desired herbs.
- 25. Add a few drops of Tabasco sauce to the ketchup.
- 26. Cut a tomato into small cubes.
- 27. Stir the tomato cubes into the seasoned ketchup mixture.
- 28. Slice the baguette.
- 29. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
- 30. Place the bread slices on the oven rack.
- 31. Toast the bread slices in the oven for 2 to 3 minutes.
- 32. Place lettuce leaves on the bottom bread slice.
- 33. Place one meatball on the lettuce.
- 34. Spread some of the tomato ketchup mixture over the meatball.
- 35. Cover the burger with the second bread slice.
- 36. Serve the burgers hot.
