  6. 6. Wash the leek thoroughly.
  7. 7. Shake the leek dry.
  8. 8. Remove the tough ends from the leek.
  9. 9. Slice the leek into thin rings.
  10. 10. Peel the carrots.
  11. 11. Dice the carrots finely.
  12. 12. Wash the dill.
  13. 13. Shake the dill dry.
  14. 14. Pick off the delicate dill tips.
  15. 15. Mix the cooked lentils with the leek and carrots.
  16. 16. Season the salad with vinegar, oil, salt, and pepper to your taste.
  17. 17. Flake the smoked mackerel into bite-sized pieces.
  18. 18. Divide the lentil salad among several plates.
  19. 19. Place the mackerel pieces on top of the salad.
