Ingredients
- 1 medium watermelon
- 1 kiwi
- 1 apple
- 50 g redcurrants
- 1 orange
- 100 g small greengage plums
- 30 ml lemon juice
- 1 honey
- 15 ml white rum
Instructions
- 1. Wash all the fruit under running water.
- 2. Use a sharp knife to cut a line around the top third of the melon.
- 3. Pierce the melon along this line in a star shape towards the center to create two halves with jagged edges.
- 4. Use a melon baller to remove flesh from the larger half until only a 2 cm thick layer remains.
- 5. Remove the flesh from the smaller half completely.
- 6. Peel the orange and remove the white pith (this is called filleting).
- 7. Cut the orange into individual segments.
- 8. Quarter the apple and remove the core.
- 9. Cut the apple into segments as well.
- 10. Peel the kiwi and slice it.
- 11. Remove the stems from the currants, but keep one sprig for decoration.
- 12. Pit the greengage plums, but keep a few with their pits.
- 13. Mix the remaining fruits in a bowl.
- 14. Fill the fruit mixture into the large melon half.
- 15. Garnish the top with the remaining plums, the currant sprig, and fruit segments.
- 16. Whisk together lemon juice, honey, and rum to make a sauce.
- 17. Pour the sauce over the fruits.
- 18. Place the filled melon in the refrigerator for about one hour to let the flavors meld.
