  1. 1. Whisk the cream cheese and cream in a bowl until the mixture is completely smooth.
  2. 2. Gently fold the chopped herbs into the cream mixture.
  3. 3. Season the mixture generously with salt and pepper.
  4. 4. Spread half of the cream evenly onto two slices of pumpernickel bread.
  5. 5. Place the remaining two bread slices on top.
  6. 6. Press the bread stack down gently to help it hold together.
  7. 7. Cut the bread stack into small squares measuring approximately 2.5 by 2.5 centimeters.
  8. 8. Quarter the apple and remove the core.
  9. 9. Slice the flesh into very thin wedges.
  10. 10. Cut these wedges in half again lengthwise.
  11. 11. Drizzle the apple wedges immediately with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  12. 12. Wash the grapes thoroughly.
  13. 13. Thread the apple pieces and grapes alternately onto four skewers.
  14. 14. Serve the finished skewers.
