🍽️ Perfect Beginner Meatballs

Ingredients
- 3 slices toast bread
- 150 ml milk
- 1 onion
- 3 sprigs parsley
- 2 tbsp butter
- 500 g minced meat (mixed)
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp hot mustard
- 1 tsp paprika powder (sweet)
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 2 tbsp ghee (for frying)
Instructions
- 1. Pour the milk over the toast slices and let them soak completely.
- 2. Peel the onion and dice it into very small cubes.
- 3. Rinse the parsley and shake it dry thoroughly.
- 4. Pick the parsley leaves off the stems and chop them finely.
- 5. Heat the butter in a pan and sauté the onion cubes in it for 3 to 4 minutes until they are soft and translucent.
- 6. Add the chopped parsley to the onion and sauté it together for about one minute.
- 7. Remove the pan from the heat and transfer the onion-parsley mixture into a separate bowl.
- 8. Let the onion mixture cool down completely before you proceed.
- 9. Squeeze the soaked toast slices firmly with your hands to remove all the milk.
- 10. Add the minced meat, the eggs, the squeezed toast, and the cooled onion mixture into a large mixing bowl.
- 11. Add the mustard and the paprika powder to the meat mixture.
- 12. Season everything generously with salt and pepper.
- 13. Knead the ingredients well with your hands until a homogeneous and formable meat dough forms.
- 14. Form small balls or flat meatballs from the dough with a diameter of about 5 to 6 centimeters.
- 15. Heat clarified butter in a frying pan.
- 16. Place the meatballs in the hot pan and fry them slowly over medium heat.
- 17. Fry the meatballs for 6 to 8 minutes until they are golden brown all around.
- 18. Turn the meatballs occasionally to ensure they brown evenly.
- 19. Remove the finished meatballs from the pan.
- 20. Serve the meatballs while still warm or let them cool down and serve them cold.
