🍽️ Creamy Bread Sauce with Spices

Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves
- 1 fresh bay leaf
- 400 ml milk
- 100 g white bread (crusts removed)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp crème fraîche
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- nutmeg
- 2 fresh bay leaves (for garnish)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the onion.
- 2. Firmly press the cloves into the peeled onion.
- 3. Place the spiced onion, milk, and bay leaf in a pot.
- 4. Bring the mixture to a boil on the stove.
- 5. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes.
- 6. Remove the onion and bay leaf from the milk.
- 7. Crumble the white bread into the warm milk.
- 8. Remove the pot from the heat.
- 9. Let the mixture rest for about 15 minutes.
- 10. Stir in the butter, Creme Fraiche, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- 11. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper.
- 12. Transfer the finished sauce into a serving bowl.
- 13. Lightly sprinkle the sauce with grated nutmeg.
- 14. Garnish the sauce with bay leaves and serve.
