🍽️ Colorful Asparagus and Ham Bread Casserole

Ingredients
- 400 g green asparagus
- salt
- 100 g ham (in slices)
- 300 ml heavy cream
- 3 eggs
- 50 g grated cheese (e.g. cheddar)
- 1 tbsp freshly chopped thyme
- nutmeg
- pepper (from the mill)
- 6 slices white bread (from the day before)
- butter (for the baking dish)
- chive rings (for garnish)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (convection mode).
- 2. Lightly grease a baking dish with butter.
- 3. Peel the lower part of the asparagus.
- 4. Boil the asparagus in salted water for about 8 minutes.
- 5. Remove the asparagus from the water.
- 6. Rinse the asparagus briefly with cold water to stop the cooking process.
- 7. Let the asparagus drain well.
- 8. Cut the asparagus into pieces about 2 centimeters long.
- 9. Cut the ham into thin strips.
- 10. Whisk the cream, eggs, and cheese in a bowl.
- 11. Add the thyme to the cream-egg mixture.
- 12. Season the mixture with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- 13. Cut the white bread into cubes about 2 centimeters in size.
- 14. Place the bread cubes in the prepared baking dish.
- 15. Scatter the ham and asparagus over the bread.
- 16. Pour the cream-egg mixture over everything.
