  1. 1. Rinse a suitable screw-top jar (or several jars totaling 900 ml) along with their lids using boiling water.
  2. 2. Place the jars upside down on a kitchen towel to drain.
  3. 3. Remove any stems from the blackberries.
  4. 4. Rinse the blackberries gently in a sieve.
  5. 5. Let the blackberries drain well.
  6. 6. Wash the apples.
  7. 7. Peel the apples.
  8. 8. Cut the apples into quarters.
  9. 9. Remove the core from the apple quarters.
  10. 10. Cut the apple quarters in half lengthwise.
  11. 11. Slice the apple halves into thick pieces.
  12. 12. If the blackberries are very large, cut them in half.
  13. 13. Weigh the blackberries and apples.
  14. 14. Place 750 grams of this mixture along with the jam sugar into a large pot.
  15. 15. Heat the mixture over high heat while stirring constantly.
  16. 16. Let the mixture boil.
  17. 17. Let it bubble vigorously for at least 3 minutes.
  18. 18. Continue to stir throughout to prevent burning.
  19. 19. Fold in the lavender flowers.
  20. 20. Bring the mixture to a brief boil again.
  21. 21. Immediately fill it into the prepared jars.
  22. 22. Seal the jars.
  23. 23. Turn the jars upside down.
  24. 24. Let them stand for 5 minutes.
  25. 25. Then turn them right side up.
  26. 26. Allow them to cool.
