🍽️ Blackberry Apple Spread

Ingredients
- 400 g blackberries
- 450 g apples (3 apples; e.g. Elstar)
- 250 g jam sugar (3:1)
- 1 tsp dried lavender flowers
Instructions
- 1. Rinse a suitable screw-top jar (or several jars totaling 900 ml) along with their lids using boiling water.
- 2. Place the jars upside down on a kitchen towel to drain.
- 3. Remove any stems from the blackberries.
- 4. Rinse the blackberries gently in a sieve.
- 5. Let the blackberries drain well.
- 6. Wash the apples.
- 7. Peel the apples.
- 8. Cut the apples into quarters.
- 9. Remove the core from the apple quarters.
- 10. Cut the apple quarters in half lengthwise.
- 11. Slice the apple halves into thick pieces.
- 12. If the blackberries are very large, cut them in half.
- 13. Weigh the blackberries and apples.
- 14. Place 750 grams of this mixture along with the jam sugar into a large pot.
- 15. Heat the mixture over high heat while stirring constantly.
- 16. Let the mixture boil.
- 17. Let it bubble vigorously for at least 3 minutes.
- 18. Continue to stir throughout to prevent burning.
- 19. Fold in the lavender flowers.
- 20. Bring the mixture to a brief boil again.
- 21. Immediately fill it into the prepared jars.
- 22. Seal the jars.
- 23. Turn the jars upside down.
- 24. Let them stand for 5 minutes.
- 25. Then turn them right side up.
- 26. Allow them to cool.
