  4. 4. Pat the sausages completely dry with a kitchen towel.
  5. 5. Make several small cuts across the surface of the sausages.
  6. 6. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  7. 7. Fry the sausages in the pan for 4 to 6 minutes until golden brown.
  8. 8. Turn the sausages frequently while frying so they cook evenly.
  9. 9. Remove the cooked sausages from the pan and set them aside to keep warm.
  10. 10. Add the sliced onions to the remaining frying fat in the pan.
  11. 11. Fry the onions over low to medium heat, stirring constantly.
  12. 12. Continue cooking the onions until they are soft and lightly browned.
  13. 13. Season the onions with salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar.
  14. 14. Plate the sausages and serve them with the caramelized onions.
