  4. 4. Boil the potatoes for about 30 minutes until they are tender.
  5. 5. Peel the onions.
  6. 6. Halve the onions in the middle.
  7. 7. Slice the onion halves into thin strips.
  8. 8. Heat butter in a pan.
  9. 9. Fry the onion strips in the hot butter, stirring constantly, for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
  10. 10. Add the flour to the onions.
  11. 11. Sweat the flour briefly by mixing it with the onions while stirring.
  12. 12. Deglaze the pan with the beer.
  13. 13. Pour in the broth.
  14. 14. Let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes until it thickens.
  15. 15. Season the sauce with salt, cumin, and pepper.
  16. 16. Heat oil in a separate pan.
  17. 17. Fry the sausages in the hot oil for about 5 minutes until golden brown on all sides.

  23. 23. Place the bratwursts on the plate next to the mashed potatoes.
  24. 24. Pour the onion sauce over the sausages and the mash.
  25. 25. Serve the dish immediately.
