🍽️ Crispy Salmon Rolls with Puff Pastry

Ingredients
- 2 sheets puff pastry (frozen)
- 1 egg white
- 2 tsp grated horseradish (from the jar)
- pepper from the mill
- 50 g smoked salmon (in thin slices)
- 50 g Gruyère cheese
- 50 g chopped pistachios
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tbsp milk
Instructions
- 1. Let the puff pastry thaw at room temperature.
- 2. Roll the dough into a rectangular sheet using a rolling pin.
- 3. Whisk the egg white with the horseradish.
- 4. Season the mixture with some pepper.
- 5. Brush the puff pastry rectangle evenly with the egg white and horseradish mixture.
- 6. Place the slices of smoked salmon flat on the pastry.
- 7. Grate the cheese finely using a grater.
- 8. Sprinkle two-thirds of the grated cheese over the salmon.
- 9. Distribute two-thirds of the pistachios evenly over the cheese.
- 10. Cut the topped puff pastry into strips about one centimeter wide, starting from the short side.
- 11. Roll each individual strip tightly into a small roll.
- 12. Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- 13. Whisk the egg yolk with the milk to create a liquid.
- 14. Brush the surface of the rolls with the egg yolk and milk mixture.
- 15. Sprinkle the rolls with the remaining cheese.
- 16. Add the remaining pistachios on top.
- 17. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius top and bottom heat (alternatively 180 degrees Celsius fan or gas level 3).
- 18. Bake the rolls for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
