Ingredients
- 600 g firm-cooking potatoes
- 400 g pears
- 400 ml whipping cream
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 tbsp crème fraîche
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 2 tbsp fresh, chopped herbs (parsley, dill and thyme)
- 100 g grated cheese (e.g. Gruyère, Emmentaler)
- kitchen herbs (parsley, dill and thyme) for garnish
Instructions
- 1. Peel the garlic clove.
- 2. Rub the baking dish thoroughly with the garlic clove.
- 3. Wash the potatoes and pears under running water.
- 4. Peel the potatoes and pears.
- 5. Slice the potatoes thinly or grate them.
- 6. Cut the pears into wedges.
- 7. Arrange the potatoes and pears evenly in the dish.
- 8. Whisk the cream, herbs, and crème fraîche together in a bowl.
- 9. Season the liquid with salt and pepper.
- 10. Pour the mixture over the potatoes.
- 11. Ensure the potatoes are covered about two-thirds.
- 12. Add more or less cream if necessary.
- 13. Sprinkle the cheese evenly over the gratin.
- 14. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
- 15. Bake the gratin in the preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius.
- 16. Bake the gratin for 40 to 50 minutes.
- 17. Bake the gratin with top and bottom heat.
- 18. Bake the gratin until it is golden brown.
- 19. Check the doneness with a fork.
