Ingredients
- 300 g blackberries
- 200 g elderberries
- 250 g sugar (more or less to taste)
- 3 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the blackberries under running water and pat them dry carefully.
- 2. Wash the elderberries several times thoroughly and discard all green, unripe berries.
- 3. Place the elderberries with 500 milliliters of water in a pot and let them simmer gently for about 15 minutes.
- 4. Add the blackberries in the last 5 minutes and lightly mash the berry mixture with a potato masher.
- 5. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve or a clean cloth and squeeze out the remaining liquid from the berries.
- 6. Bring the juice together with the sugar and lemon juice to a boil again.
- 7. Rinse the bottles with boiling water to sterilize them.
- 8. Fill the hot juice into the bottles and close them tightly.
- 9. To extend the shelf life of the juice, you can boil the bottles for about 5 minutes in bubbling water.
- 10. After that, it is germ-free and can be stored for several months in a cool, dark place.
