  1. 1. Peel the onions, cut them in half, and slice them into strips. Heat butter and 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan. Fry the onion strips over low heat for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown. Season with salt and pepper and remove from the pan.
  2. 2. Press the steaks slightly flat and season with salt and pepper. Fry them in the remaining hot oil in the pan. Cook for 2 to 4 minutes on each side, depending on your preference. Add the onions back in at the end, heat through briefly, and serve.
