🍽️ Juicy Beef Burgers

Ingredients
- 1 stale roll
- 1 shallot
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp freshly chopped parsley
- 1 tbsp freshly chopped marjoram
- 1 egg
- 400 g mixed minced meat
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- breadcrumbs
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 4 burger buns (or alternatively ciabatta)
- 2 lettuce leaves (e.g. romaine)
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 red onion
- 4 tbsp medium-hot mustard
Instructions
- 1. Place the stale bun in a bowl and cover it with lukewarm water.
- 2. Peel the shallot and chop it into very small pieces.
- 3. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a pan and sauté the chopped shallot in it.
- 4. Add the chopped parsley and marjoram to the shallot and stir.
- 5. Remove the pan from the heat and let the spice mixture cool down briefly.
- 6. Squeeze the soaked bun well with your hands so that no water remains.
- 7. Add the squeezed bun, the egg, and the ketchup to a large bowl.
- 8. Add the cooled shallot mixture and the minced meat.
- 9. Mix all ingredients together with your hands to form a homogeneous mixture.
- 10. Add breadcrumbs as needed until the mixture is moldable but not too soft.
- 11. Season the meat mixture generously with salt and pepper.
- 12. Form several equal-sized patties from the mixture.
- 13. Brush the patties with the remaining oil.
- 14. Grill the patties on a grill or in a grill pan for 2 to 3 minutes per side.
- 15. Cut the burger buns horizontally.
- 16. Place the bun halves cut-side down on the grill.
- 17. Grill the buns for 1 to 2 minutes until golden brown.
- 18. Wash the lettuce leaves under running water.
- 19. Pat the lettuce leaves dry with a kitchen towel.
- 20. Cut the dry lettuce leaves into thin strips.
- 21. Wash the tomatoes.
- 22. Cut the hard stem area off the tomatoes.
- 23. Slice the tomatoes into thick slices.
- 24. Peel the onion.
- 25. Cut the onion into thin rings.
- 26. Spread one tablespoon of mustard on the bottom half of each grilled burger bun.
- 27. Place a grilled patty on each bun.
- 28. Top the patties with the onion rings.
- 29. Place the tomato slices on the onions.
- 30. Add the lettuce strips as the final topping.
- 31. Place the top half of the burger bun on.
- 32. Serve the burgers immediately.
