  1. 1. Crumble the yeast into the lukewarm milk and stir until it has completely dissolved.
  2. 2. Put the flour into a large bowl and make a small well in the center.
  3. 3. Pour the yeast milk into the well and add sugar, eggs, salt, and about 50 grams of soft butter.
  4. 4. Knead the ingredients into a soft and elastic dough.
  5. 5. Take 12 small pieces of the dough and roll them into round balls.
  6. 6. Brush the dough balls with liquid butter.
  7. 7. Cover the balls and let them rise in a warm place for about 10 minutes so they puff up slightly.
  8. 8. Dip your fingers in butter and gently stretch the dough balls into flat rings by sliding the edge through your hand.
  9. 9. Ensure that a thin hole is created in the center of the rings.
  10. 10. Put the lard in a pot and heat it to about 170 degrees Celsius.
  11. 11. Carefully put the dough pieces into the hot fat and fry them in batches.
  12. 12. While frying, pour hot fat over the pastries 1 to 2 times.
  13. 13. Fry the rings for 1 to 2 minutes until golden brown.
  14. 14. Turn the pastries carefully so that no fat runs into the center and the hole stays light.
  15. 15. Fry the second side for 1 to 2 minutes until golden brown as well.
  16. 16. Let the finished rings drain well.
  17. 17. Serve them with a pinch of powdered sugar.
