  1. 1. Place the sifted flour, egg yolks, cream, baking powder, salt, and rum in a bowl.
  2. 2. Knead the ingredients into a firm and pliable dough.
  3. 3. Lightly dust a work surface with flour.
  4. 4. Roll the dough out thinly on the floured surface.
  5. 5. Cut the dough into strips measuring approximately 2 by 12 centimeters.
  6. 6. Make a lengthwise cut in the center of each dough strip.
  7. 7. Thread one end of the strip through the opening to form a small loop.
  8. 8. Heat the fat to about 170 degrees Celsius.
  9. 9. Fry the rings in batches in the hot fat.
  10. 10. Cook the rings for 2 to 3 minutes until they are golden brown.
  11. 11. Let the finished rings drain on kitchen paper.
  12. 12. Dust the rings with powdered sugar.
  13. 13. Serve the rings immediately.
