  7. 7. Wash the apricots thoroughly.
  8. 8. Pour boiling water over the fruits.
  9. 9. Peel the skin off the apricots.
  10. 10. Halve the fruits and remove the pits.
  11. 11. Place the apricots into a clean jar.
  12. 12. Place halved cinnamon sticks and star anise between the fruit layers.
  13. 13. Pour the prepared rum syrup over the fruits.
  14. 14. Fill the jar to the brim with the liquid.
  15. 15. Seal the jar tightly.
  16. 16. Let the fruits steep in the jar for about three weeks.
