Ingredients
- 150 g flour
- 0.5 pack baking powder
- 40 g powdered sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- 75 g quark
- 2 tbsp milk
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1 kg apples (4 pieces)
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 100 g sugar
- 3 eggs
- 0.125 l whipping cream
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar
Instructions
- 1. Mix flour, baking powder, a pinch of salt, and sugar in a bowl. Pour the mixture onto a clean work surface and shape it into a small mound.
- 2. Press a well into the center of the flour mound. Add the quark (a type of fresh cheese) into this indentation.
- 3. Pour the oil into the center.
- 4. Knead everything together with your hands until you have a smooth, pliable dough.
- 5. Roll out the dough thinly.
- 6. Place the dough in your cake pan and press it firmly. Preheat the oven.
- 7. Peel the apples. Cut them into quarters and immediately drizzle them with lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
- 8. Cut out the hard core from the apple quarters.
- 9. Place the apple pieces flat on a cutting board. Make several lengthwise cuts into them, but do not cut all the way through.
- 10. Gently press the apples so they open up like a flower. Place them on the dough with the curved side facing up.
- 11. Add eggs, sugar, and cream to a separate bowl.
- 12. Whisk the ingredients well together with a spoon or whisk until you have a uniform mixture.
- 13. Pour the egg-cream mixture evenly over the apples.
- 14. Swirl the pan slightly to ensure the liquid is evenly distributed. Bake the cake on the middle rack for about 30 minutes.
- 15. Remove the cake from the oven. Let it cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar to taste before serving.
- 16. Enjoy your cake!
