🍰 Moist Apple Cake with Apple Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 50 ml milk (3.5% fat)
- 3 tbsp sugar-free apple sauce (15 g each)
- 1 tbsp honey
- 100 g whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 small apple
Instructions
- 1. Whisk the egg, oil, milk, apple sauce, and honey until smooth. Combine whole wheat flour, baking powder, and cinnamon in a separate bowl, then gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a uniform batter forms.
- 2. Divide the batter evenly between two small baking pans. Wash the apple, pat it dry, cut it into quarters, remove the core, and slice the wedges into thin strips. Distribute the apple slices evenly over the batter in the pans.
- 3. Place the baking pans on a baking sheet and bake the cake in the preheated oven at 180 °C (convection 160 °C; gas mark 2–3) for about 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown. Check for doneness with a wooden skewer. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool briefly.
