🍽️ Juicy Compote of Apples and Pears

Ingredients
- 400 g Boskop apple (or other tart apples)
- 400 g pears
- 1 lemon, the grated peel and the juice of (unwaxed)
- 50 g sugar
- 3 tbsp sultanas
- 2 cinnamon sticks
Instructions
- 1. Peel the apples and pears.
- 2. Cut the fruits into quarters.
- 3. Remove the core.
- 4. Cut the flesh into coarse cubes.
- 5. Place the fruit cubes in a pot.
- 6. Pour in 300 milliliters of water.
- 7. Add lemon juice.
- 8. Add half of the lemon zest.
- 9. Add sugar to taste.
- 10. Add roughly broken cinnamon sticks.
- 11. Add sultanas.
- 12. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- 13. Cover the pot.
- 14. Simmer the compote over medium heat.
- 15. Simmer for a few minutes.
- 16. Simmer until the fruit is soft but still holds its shape.
- 17. Remove the pot from the heat.
- 18. Let the mixture cool.
- 19. Serve the compote in dessert glasses or bowls.
