🍰 Creamy Baked Apples

Ingredients
- 4 firm apples
- 200 ml milk
- 200 ml whipping cream
- 40 g sugar
- 2 tbsp vanilla sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 2 tbsp brown sugar (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius. Select the top and bottom heat setting.
- 2. Wash the apples thoroughly under running water.
- 3. Carefully cut off the top lids of the apples.
- 4. Remove the core using a spoon or a corer.
- 5. Make sure the apple walls remain about 6 to 8 millimeters thick.
- 6. Place the hollowed-out apples in a suitable baking dish.
- 7. Put milk, cream, sugar, and vanilla sugar into a pot.
- 8. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring.
- 9. Remove the pot from the heat immediately.
- 10. Whisk the egg yolks in a separate bowl.
- 11. Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the egg yolks while stirring constantly.
- 12. Fill the cream into the hollowed-out apples.
- 13. Pour some water into the bottom of the baking dish.
- 14. Bake the apples in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes.
- 15. Remove the dish from the oven when the cream is set.
- 16. Let the apples cool down to room temperature first.
- 17. Place the apples in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- 18. Take the apples out when they are completely cold.
- 19. Sprinkle brown sugar over the surface of the cream.
- 20. Caramelize the sugar using a culinary torch or under the hot grill.
- 21. Wait until the sugar layer is golden brown.
- 22. Serve the dessert immediately.
