  1. 1. Rinse the lentils well and bring to a boil in a pot with 500 ml of water.
  2. 2. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes until soft.
  3. 3. Finely chop onion, ginger, and garlic, and sauté in ghee until golden.
  4. 4. Add the diced tomato and sauté for another 5 minutes.
  5. 5. Add the cumin seeds and mix well.
  6. 6. Add the lentils, mix well, and adjust with water as needed. Season with salt.
  7. 7. Garnish the Dal Tadka with fresh cilantro and serve.
