Ingredients
- 500g Chicken Wings
- 200ml Buttermilk
- 1 TL Salt
- 1 TL Pepper
- 1 TL Garlic Powder
- 100g Cornstarch
Instructions
- 1. Pat 500 g chicken wings dry with paper towels. Never wash them, or the coating will get soggy.
- 2. Put the wings in a large bowl and pour 200 ml buttermilk over them.
- 3. Sprinkle 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, and 1 tsp garlic powder on top.
- 4. Toss the wings well in the marinade, cover the bowl, and refrigerate for 30 min.
- 5. Take the bowl out of the fridge and preheat the air fryer to 180 °C.
- 6. Put 100 g cornstarch in a shallow dish or large bag.
- 7. Take the wings out of the buttermilk and let them drip briefly. Don't rinse them.
- 8. Coat each wing individually in the cornstarch until it’s completely white.
- 9. Firmly shake off any excess starch from each wing. Too much starch burns quickly.
- 10. Place the coated wings in the air fryer basket. Make sure they don’t touch.
- 11. Cook the wings at 180 °C for 20 min, until they are golden brown.
- 12. Open the basket and flip each wing with tongs. The first side will now be pale.
- 13. Close the basket and cook the wings for another 10 min at 180 °C.
- 14. Check for crispness: The coating should be golden brown and hard, not soft.
- 15. Take the wings out and let them rest on a rack for 2 min so they don’t get soggy.
- 16. Arrange the wings on a plate. They’re perfect when the coating cracks when you bite into them.
