Ingredients
- 500g Chicken wings
- 200ml Buttermilk
- 100g Flour
- 1 TL Pepper
- 1 TL Salt
- 1 TL Garlic powder
- 1 TL Paprika powder
- 2 EL Olive oil
Instructions
- 1. Pat the 500 g chicken wings dry with paper towels. Never wash them, or the fat will splatter later.
- 2. Put the wings in a large bowl and pour 200 ml buttermilk over them.
- 3. Let the wings marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. This tenderizes the meat.
- 4. In a second bowl, mix 100 g flour with 1 tsp salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- 5. Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C. It takes about 3 minutes to heat up.
- 6. Take the wings out of the buttermilk and coat them in the flour mixture, pressing to adhere. Shake off any excess flour.
- 7. Place the coated wings in the basket in a single layer. Don't stack them, or they'll get soggy.
- 8. Drizzle 2 tbsp olive oil evenly over the wings. This gives them a golden color.
- 9. Fry the wings at 200 °C for 20 minutes. Flip them firmly after 10 minutes, until they are lightly browned.
- 10. Reduce the temperature to 180 °C and fry for another 10 minutes, until the coating is golden brown and crispy.
- 11. Remove the wings and let them rest on a rack for 5 minutes. This keeps the coating crispy.
- 12. Serve the wings immediately. They're perfect when the coating cracks and the meat stays juicy.
