  1. 1. Boil water in a large pot with salt. Add the penne and cook al dente (still firm to the bite).
  2. 2. Drain the water but reserve 100 ml of the pasta water. Set the pasta aside.
  3. 3. Heat the olive oil in the same pan over medium heat. Add the chopped cherry tomatoes and minced garlic.
  4. 4. Cook the tomatoes for 5 minutes until soft and slightly breaking down. Mash them lightly with a spoon.
  5. 5. Stir in the cream and grated cheese into the tomatoes. Let the sauce simmer for 2 minutes.
  6. 6. Return the pasta and 50 ml of the reserved pasta water to the pan. Mix everything well until a creamy sauce forms.
  7. 7. Season with salt and pepper. Chop the basil and stir it in. Serve the dish warm.
