🍅 Classic Meatball Penne in Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
- 400 g Penne Pasta
- 350 g Ground Meat (Beef or Pork)
- 50 g Breadcrumbs
- 30 ml Milk
- 1 Stück Egg (Size M)
- 1 Stück Onion
- 2 Stück Garlic Clove
- 1 Dose Canned Tomatoes (Whole, 400g)
- 1 TL Dried Basil
- 1 TL Sugar
- 3 EL Olive Oil
- 1 Prise Salt
- 1 Prise Black Pepper
Instructions
- 1. Soak the breadcrumbs in the milk. Mix them with the ground meat, the egg, and a pinch of salt to form a uniform mixture.
- 2. Form 16 equal-sized meatballs from the meat mixture. Heat the olive oil in a large pan and fry the meatballs until browned all over. Remove them.
- 3. Chop the onion and garlic finely. Sweat them in the meatball fat until soft.
- 4. Add the canned tomatoes and dried basil. Crush the tomatoes slightly with a spoon. Stir in the sugar.
- 5. Place the fried meatballs back into the sauce. Let them cook for 10 minutes at medium heat. Remove them carefully.
- 6. Boil the penne pasta in salted water until al dente. Reserve 150 ml of cooking water.
- 7. Mix the pasta with the tomato sauce. Add the cooking water to bind the sauce. Serve the meatballs on top of the pasta.
