🍰 Easy Homemade Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients
- 200 g chocolate (dark, (over 70% cocoa content))
- 3 egg(s)
- 200 ml cream
- 40 g sugar
- 50 g butter
Instructions
- 1. Separate the eggs. Carefully lift the egg yolks away from the egg whites.
- 2. Whip the egg whites in a clean bowl using a hand mixer or whisk until stiff peaks form.
- 3. Whip the cream in a separate bowl until stiff peaks form.
- 4. Place a pot with a little water on the stove and heat it gently.
- 5. Place a heatproof bowl over the pot, making sure it does not touch the water (double boiler method).
- 6. Add the butter and chocolate to the bowl over the pot.
- 7. Stir the ingredients slowly until they are completely melted and smooth.
- 8. Remove the bowl from the heat and set it aside.
- 9. Place the egg yolks into a large, clean bowl.
- 10. Add two tablespoons of hot water to the egg yolks.
- 11. Whisk the egg yolk and water mixture with a whisk until creamy.
- 12. Add the sugar to the egg yolk mixture.
- 13. Continue stirring until the mixture looks light and creamy.
- 14. Add the melted chocolate and butter mixture to the egg yolk cream.
- 15. Stir everything gently until well combined.
- 16. Gently fold the stiffly whipped egg whites into the chocolate mixture.
- 17. Gently fold the stiffly whipped cream into the mixture as well.
- 18. Use a spoon or whisk for mixing, but do not use an electric mixer.
- 19. Place the finished mousse in the refrigerator.
- 20. Let the mousse chill for at least two hours.
- 21. Take the mousse out of the refrigerator shortly before serving.
- 22. Do not serve the mousse too cold.
- 23. Sprinkle chocolate sprinkles over the mousse as desired.
