  3. 3. Remove the core area from the pear halves.
  4. 4. Immediately dab the pear pieces with lemon juice.
  5. 5. Put the red wine, cinnamon stick, and sugar into a pot.
  6. 6. Bring the mixture in the pot to a gentle simmer.
  7. 7. Place the pear halves into the warm liquid.
  8. 8. Cook the pears for 5 to 10 minutes.
  9. 9. Remove the soft pears from the pot.
  10. 10. Let the pears cool down.
  11. 11. Continue to reduce the remaining liquid in the pot.
  12. 12. Cook the sauce until it becomes syrupy.
  13. 13. Scoop the vanilla ice cream onto the plates.
  14. 14. Place the cooled pear halves on or next to the ice cream.
  15. 15. Pour the warm red wine sauce over the pears.
  16. 16. Garnish the dish with whipped cream if desired.
  17. 17. Add fresh mint leaves as decoration.
