  1. 1. Sift the flour into a large bowl.
  2. 2. Make a well in the center of the flour.
  3. 3. Warm up the milk and water together.
  4. 4. Crumble the yeast into small pieces.
  5. 5. Dissolve the yeast with one teaspoon of sugar in a small amount of the warm liquid.
  6. 6. Pour the yeast mixture into the well of the flour.
  7. 7. Cover the opening with a little flour.
  8. 8. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 10 minutes, covered.
  9. 9. Add salt, oregano, oil, and the remaining liquid.
  10. 10. Beat the ingredients together vigorously at first.
  11. 11. Knead the ingredients into a firm dough.
  12. 12. Continue kneading the dough for about 10 minutes.
  13. 13. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 30 minutes, covered.
  14. 14. Roll out the dough to the size of a baking sheet.
  15. 15. Cut the dough in half lengthwise.
  16. 16. Spread each half of the dough with ketchup or tomato paste.
  17. 17. Top the dough halves with ham.
  18. 18. Spread the crème fraîche over the toppings.
  19. 19. Sprinkle the cheese on top.
  20. 20. Roll each dough sheet lengthwise.
  21. 21. Cut each roll into 12 slices.
  22. 22. Place the snails on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  23. 23. Let the snails rise again for 10 minutes.
  24. 24. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
  25. 25. Bake the snails for about 20 minutes using top and bottom heat.
  26. 26. Serve the snails warm.
