🍽️ Juicy Savoy Cabbage Rolls with Minced Meat Filling

Ingredients
- 1 head Savoy cabbage
- 2 slice(s) bread (from the day before)
- 100 ml milk
- 2 onion(s)
- 6 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp parsley
- 1 egg
- 500 g pork mince (or mixed)
- 0.5 Liter vegetable broth (or meat broth)
- salt and pepper
- nutmeg
- paprika powder

Instructions
- 1. Separate 12 large leaves from the savoy cabbage head.
- 2. Trim the hard central rib of the leaves slightly to make them easier to roll.
- 3. Boil the leaves for 2 minutes in boiling salted water (blanching means cooking briefly in boiling water).
- 4. Cut the bread into small cubes.
- 5. Pour hot milk over the bread cubes and let them soak.
- 6. Quarter the remaining savoy cabbage.
- 7. Cut out the conical rib.
- 8. Slice the greens into thin strips.
- 9. Rinse the savoy cabbage strips briefly.
- 10. Let the strips drain well.
- 11. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 12. Dice the onions.
- 13. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan.
- 14. Sauté the onions together with the savoy cabbage strips in the butter.
- 15. Add the remaining savoy cabbage gradually, as it will wilt quickly.
- 16. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- 17. Let the vegetable filling cool down slightly.
- 18. Finely chop the parsley.
- 19. Squeeze the milk out of the soaked bread.
- 20. Mix the cooled vegetable filling with the parsley, the bread, the egg, and the minced meat.
- 21. Season the meat mixture vigorously again with salt, pepper, and paprika powder.
- 22. Take 1 to 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture.
- 23. Wrap the filling in a savoy cabbage leaf.
- 24. Place the rolls seam-side down in a greased, ovenproof dish.
- 25. Distribute the remaining butter in small pieces over the rolls.
- 26. Roast the cabbage rolls in the oven without additional liquid for about 15 minutes.
- 27. Take the dish out when the rolls start to brown.
- 28. Pour the broth into the dish.
- 29. Roast the rolls for another 45 minutes in the oven.
- 30. This dish fills 4 adults.
- 31. However, we prefer to eat it with homemade mashed potatoes.
- 32. So this amount will likely fill 6 adults.
