Ingredients
- 500 g sugar
- 500 g margarine (room temperature)
- 10 egg(s) (beaten)
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 1 splash rum
- 1 kg flour
- 1 liter milk
- 1 packet baking powder
- possibly fat (for the waffle iron)
Instructions
- 1. This recipe makes about 30 waffles.
- 2. I am sharing my secret recipe from my time working as a waiter in the café. It is the best waffle batter recipe I have ever tried.
- 3. Whisk the eggs with a whisk until they are frothy.
- 4. Add the sugar and the margarine.
- 5. Stir everything until smooth and bubbly.
- 6. Add the vanilla sugar.
- 7. Add a generous splash of real rum.
- 8. Add 1000 grams of flour.
- 9. Add the baking powder. This is a leavening agent that makes the batter rise.
- 10. Mix the ingredients.
- 11. The batter will become a bit sticky now.
- 12. Gradually stir in the milk.
- 13. Stir until the batter is smooth and soft.
- 14. Preheat your waffle iron.
- 15. Bake the waffles in batches in the preheated waffle iron.
- 16. Serve the waffles hot immediately.
- 17. For the winter variation, stir cinnamon into the batter.
- 18. The quantity might be too large for a normal household.
- 19. We always use only half the ingredients.
- 20. Do not take half of the baking powder, but the full amount.
- 21. This way you feed about 6 hungry people.
- 22. Any leftover batter freezes excellently.
