  2. 2. Mix the flour with salt and baking powder (a leavening agent that fluffs the batter).
  3. 3. Beat the soft butter together with the eggs, sugar, and vanilla sugar until creamy.
  4. 4. Now stir in the flour mixture and the milk alternately into the butter mixture until smooth.
  5. 5. The batter should be thick and drip slowly from the spoon; adjust the amount of milk depending on the size of your eggs.
  6. 6. Finally, add a few drops of lemon juice and bake the waffles in a waffle iron until golden brown.
  7. 7. Serve the waffles with powdered sugar, warm cherries, and/or whipped cream.
