🍽️ Authentic Swiss Cheese Fondue

Ingredients
- 2 Baguette(s) (cut into pieces)
- 300 g Gruyère (finely grated)
- 300 g Emmentaler ((Swiss), finely grated)
- 1 Garlic clove(s) (first halved and then pressed)
- 300 ml White wine
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch
- 2 tbsp Kirsch
- Pepper, white
- 1 pinch Paprika powder, sweet
- 1 pinch Nutmeg (grated)
Instructions
- 1. Rub the inside of the fondue pot with the half clove of garlic.
- 2. Pour the wine into the prepared pot.
- 3. Heat the wine over very low heat until it is warm.
- 4. Add the grated cheese gradually to the warm wine.
- 5. Stir constantly until the cheese has completely melted.
- 6. Press the second clove of garlic directly into the cheese mixture.
- 7. Mix the cornstarch with the kirsch in a small bowl.
- 8. Pour the starch-kirsch mixture into the cheese.
- 9. Bring the fondue to a brief boil while stirring continuously.
- 10. Light the flame of the rechaud (a small tabletop warmer used for keeping food hot).
- 11. Season the fondue with a pinch of pepper.
- 12. Add a pinch of paprika powder.
- 13. Add a pinch of ground nutmeg.
- 14. Skewer the baguette slices onto the fondue forks.
- 15. Dip the bread into the hot cheese fondue.
- 16. Enjoy the fondue immediately.
