  7. 7. Spread the sauce evenly over both sides of the patties with your hands.
  8. 8. Grill the burgers or pan-fry them over medium to high heat.
  9. 9. Season the seared patties with salt and pepper.
  10. 10. Add onion slices to the pan.
  11. 11. Cook everything for a short while longer until the onions are soft and golden brown.
