🍳 Yeast Plait Like from the Baker

Ingredients
- 1 kg wheat flour
- 1 cube yeast (fresh)
- 50 g sugar (up to 150 g, to taste)
- 1 tbsp, level salt
- 100 g butter
- 530 ml milk (depending on it also a bit more)
- 1 egg (for brushing)
- possibly almond flakes
- possibly coarse sugar
Instructions
- 1. Put the flour into a large bowl.
- 2. Mix the fresh yeast with the sugar.
- 3. Let the mixture stand until the yeast has completely dissolved.
- 4. Add the yeast sugar and the salt.
- 5. Melt the butter in a pot.
- 6. Add the milk to the melted butter.
- 7. Pour the lukewarm butter and milk mixture onto the flour.
- 8. Knead everything into a smooth dough.
- 9. Cover the dough.
- 10. Let the dough rise in a warm place for at least one hour.
- 11. Wait until the dough has doubled in size.
- 12. Then knead the dough briefly again.
- 13. Divide the dough into three or four strands.
- 14. Braid the strands together into a plait.
- 15. Brush the surface with beaten egg.
- 16. Sprinkle the plait with pearl sugar or sliced almonds as desired.
- 17. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
- 18. Bake the plait for about 40 to 45 minutes.
- 19. Alternatively, shape the dough into round buns.
- 20. Soak raisins in water beforehand.
- 21. Add the soaked raisins to the dough to taste.
